In the province of Baghlan, an important Muslim holiday turned grim after a malicious attack. While at least seven were killed, many more were injured.
Eid al-Adha is an immensely important holiday in the Islamic faith. Also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," or even the "Feast of Sacrifice," this event is intended to celebrate the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son, Ishmael. It stands as a worldwide festivity to give recognition and respect to the profound devotion Muslims admire.
On the first day of the three day celebration, however, sacrifice took a chilling new meaning.
Outside a Mosque in the north, two bombers launched a callous attack. Of these two insurgents, one was reported to have been shot dead before the opportunity prevailed to detonate his explosives, but the second had nonetheless accomplished his goal. Afghan officials described the attack as "killing at least seven worshippers and injuring more than a dozen other people." [source: latimes]
