A British punk rocker from back in the early days has died. Poly Styrene, born Marianne Elliott, was diagnosed with breast cancer last month.

Poly "formed X-Ray Spex in 1976 after watching the Sex Pistols perform, and the band was probably best known for the song 'Oh Bondage, Up Yours!.' They released their debut album -- 'Germ Free Adolescents' -- in 1978, before splitting up" (reuters).

Poly Styrene went solo after the band broke up and recorded "Translucense" in the early 80's. Her last solo album 'Generation Indigo' was released only a month ago.
