Dead Island to Become Movie. Maybe It Won't Suck?

Video games most of the time don't make good movies. Very few exceptions happen once in a Blue Moon, but even then it's mostly likely that they're so bad they're good.

Dead Island though? Not exactly my first choice. Aren't there enough zombie movies and games? I guess not because everyone and their mothers seem to love them for some reason. Alright more likely it's their brothers loving them, moving on.

Dead Island is a game that became a sensation when its trailer was released. The trailer was released back in February and immediately went viral. It was graphic, cinematic, and gory. The game was just released this month and LionsGate announced just this Tuesday that they bought the rights.

I suppose the game's plot can transfer well into a film though, a lot better than something like Mortal Kombat at least. Zombie movies are, in a way, standard in their plots, but there is a classic feel to them. More often than not the zombies take back seat to the alive characters. Take George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead for instance.

The zombies are what people think of, but for those who have actually seen the film they remember something else. When in a desperate situation it's hard for people to cooperate and get along. Unfortunately more often than not cooperation and teamwork is essential for survival. In Night we see what happens to people who refuse to work with one another.

Dead Island is about vacationers who visit an island at first thinking it's paradise, but of course it turns out to be a living Hell. Or perhaps an un-dead Hell.

Don't worry; I slapped myself for that joke.

Seems like a decent set-up for a zombie flick I guess, but without a decent director it won't hold up. Just look at the Resident Evil movies for God's sake; horrendous.

Sean Daniel who produced The Mummy, Tombstone, and Dazed and Confused is developing the project through his SeanDaniel Company. Daniel was working with Union Entertainment on the project earlier on.

Well I don't know how much influence he had on it, but Tombstone is an amazing movie. Romanticized yes, but come on its Hollywood. I honestly don't care. I watch films to be entertained, not educated.

Well who's to say whether this film will be good or bad.? It's probably going to be bad, but we'll wait and see.
