Men in Black 3 Confirmed. In IMAX Too No Less 09-13-2011 - by Michelle Lauren, Staff Mumbler If you lived in the nineties you knew what Men in Black was. Not to mention how much of a hit it was. Will Smith is a beloved smooth actor nowadays, but back in the early days he went from being the Fresh Prince to Agent J.
The original Men in Black was clever, entertaining, and had great visuals for the nineties. The sequel? Well opinions are mixed on that one. Critics seem to be under the impression that it rehashed elements from the original, with mixed results. However there are people that liked it well enough, and thought it worth the money just to see Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones team up again.
A third installment though? I don't know about that one. IMAX doesn't appeal to me either. The fact that Sony is even bothering with the IMAX gimmick in this economy bugs me. James Cameron's Avatar I can understand to an extent, but MIB 3? Ethan Cohen is writing the movie, so I'm willing to consider seeing it in standard view. 3D is too expensive for me and many others though.
The film will be released May 25, 2012. Yahoo! News talks about how the actual filming of the picture had some setbacks. "The film was supposed to begin shooting last October, but that date was postponed by about a month. Soon after, producers announced they would film the movie in two segments -- the first would begin in November and be finished before Christmas and the second would begin in mid-February. Instead, shooting began again on March 28."
Will this movie be worth seeing? That's up to you to decide. Second sequels don't fare too well in the eyes of critics or average movie-goers. Stranger things have happened though.
