Horrible Bosses Review

Why Horrible Bosses is the most overrated movie out at the moment.

Horrible bosses was a movie that looked promising in every category, or at least at first glance. The movie's roster was overflowing with big names, the premise seemed original (whereas every other recent movie involves the same overdone romantic-comedies, or just Michael Bay peppering in explosions to compensate for his sub-par storytelling abilities), and from what I'd read off of other reviews, each actor had supposedly given an amazing performance- even Jennifer Aniston, who hasn't been in anything worth watching since Office Space was rumored to have done an excellent job.

Though, to be fair, it's very hard to pay attention to how well she's acting when this is going on.

But this movie did nothing but to dissapoint. It had its moments, yes, and every once in a while I had hope for it while it was momentarily saved by Charlie Day doing something ridiculous, but each and every time this was unfortunately turned around on me as it only became an annoyance. His running around screaming shrilly about anything that happened was funny for the first five minutes that it happened, but an hour into this movie I promise you that you will be on your knees begging to God, Allah, Odin, or whomever else can send a bolt of lightning your way to put you out of your misery. Thank all three of them, and Zeus too just for the hell of it, that this movie was only an hour and a half long because I don't know how I would have sat through another minute of it.

Other than that, I would have to point out another negative point being how clumsily the plot would meander along. The sequence of events was not only nonsensical, but it was so poorly drawn together that there is no way to overlook this. We only go ten minutes into the movie when the three, seemingly normal protagonists just go ahead and decide, "Hey, we should kill each other's bosses." Each subsequent event happens only due to random chance and pure dumb luck, and it was all thrown together so loosely that it becomes hard to get behind the characters whatsoever. And these random events become ever the more frustrating as they have less and less meaning behind them- they ultimately become a device to move the plot along where there is an obvious lack of anything important going on.

An hour and a half of luck and random chance.

So in conclusion, Horrible Bosses is not something you want to see unless you happen to be into horrible movies. I will never bring myself to understand the 7.2 rating it has on IMDB, but if I had to give this waste of time a rating it would be a 3. Trust me, save your money.
