Dark of the Moon gets a D. I had the chance to catch the third installment to the transformers movies last night, and it was about as good I expected, which wasn’t good at all. Unless of course you are looking for a movie that tries to make up for the lack of plot with explosions and fight scenes.

The story starts with an autobot ship crash landing on the moon. Then there’s the Apollo mission to the moon where they search the ship just like in the preview. But let’s be honest, how many people remember or really care about the plot? I know I can barely remember any of the names of the human characters. All that really matters is Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime, and maybe Megatron, but even he seems unimportant in this movie. With so many characters, human, robot, new, old, most are unnecessary to the story.

Also, the explanation as to why Megan Fox is missing from the movie is very brief and vague, with just some short dialogue saying that she dumped Shia LaBeouf’s character, and that was pretty much it. Then somehow he scores another hot girl, and falls in love with her also. Even all of the characters you meet throughout the movie are magically connected with either the autobots or decepticons, with not much explanation. That is, aside from one character conveniently explaining a lame excuse for the weak plot line, and predictable "twists".

Of course the real draw to this movie (Or the only draw to this movie I should say) is the action. And the action was pretty good, but overall very forgettable. Transformers 3 has little, to no substance, even in the humor. With only a few small laughs here and there, the movie has nothing that really stands out. If you're looking for a great movie, Transformers 3 is not the place to look.
